I’ve always been a cat person. I like dogs as well, but I don’t understand their language as well as I speak cat.
No matter if you’re a cat person like me, or you prefer dogs, I hope you’ll agree with me on the importance of being a responsible pet owner.
My childhood dream has always been to rescue all sad, sick and lonely cats in the whole world. In my childish mind I had this vision and I wanted to treat the sick ones and give them all the love they’ve never had. I guess the closest I got to this was, when I used to be a volunteer cat rescuer in the last few years when I lived in Bulgaria. I saw a lot of shocking things and how cruel some people can be.
I have never ever bought a cat in my whole life and I never will! Knowing the awful conditions in majority of breeders who produce animals just for pure business reasons, I will never give them my money. Especially knowing how many cats who’ve ended up on the street as stray, become victims every single day to different diseases, car crashes and are tortured by people.
Last year my family lost one very special cat. We’ve had our Queen for 16 years – that was more than half of my life. It was difficult for all of us to overcome the pain. I know it wasn’t an easy decision for my parents to decide to have another cat after Judy, but I’m glad they opened their hearts and home again.
I spoke to them a lot that they need to rescue another kitten from the street and will see how it can cure the pain by playing the day away. At first, they kept saying that they need more time (I fully understood that), but later, for my biggest surprise, they adopted 2 little kittens! They just couldn’t decide which one, so took them both. Picked from different sides of a mountain village, where the winter is very harsh, the two little ones got a forever home!
At first, they were some fights and hisses, which later transformed into endless games together and an even greater love.
Jessica – she is a hyper active huntress which doesn’t miss a thing with her curious eyes and she’s able to jump more than a meter high to catch a flying paper ball.
Mikey – he is a handsome long-haired boy who’s favourite activity is a belly tickle. You’ll catch him in the usual pose of a king on the most comfortable spot in the room.
She plays so much that she needs occasional 20 minutes naps. Every time he sees her taking a break, he goes and lies on top of her so no one can disturb her in that time.
