A fellow blogger recently pointed out to me that I’ve become something like an advocate for organic health-conscious brands. I like to believe so. I find it incredibly important to know exactly what’s on my beauty table, especially since I turned the wrong side of 30 (not that there is anything wrong with it – I quite enjoy it on this side).
A couple of months ago, I discovered a whole new approach to skincare – personally tailored beauty from CHIDEM!
Who are CHIDEM
CHIDEM Beauty is an ethical brand on a mission to provide personalised luxurious products. Unlike the majority of the industry big players who rely on mass production and the use of harmful chemicals, CHIDEM delivers exclusivity in small batches. Working closely with the ingredients growers and harvesters, the brand ensures only the finest certified (by OF&G) organic raw materials go into the recipes.
Having worked as a chemical engineer and experiencing from first-hand the harmful effect of synthetic chemicals, Cigdem Yilmaz – the founder of CHIDEM, describes how important it is for her products to reflect the desires and needs of her customers: “With CHIDEM (pronounced Chee-dem) I wanted to create a bespoke product line that is personalised and focused on delivering luxurious and exclusive products to all our clients for all ages, skin type and concern.” All products are produced to order, freshly handmade by Cigdem herself in a state of art laboratory in the Cheshire countryside.
CHIDEM product formulations are free from parabens, synthetic fragraces, mineral oil, petrolatum, sulphae detergents, synthetic colours and animal ingredients except from beeswax. In addition, they do not contain potential irritants, such as: glycols, PEGs, PPGs,Urea, D.E.A, T.E.A, PABA, aliphatic alcohols/hydrocarbons, phthalates, fumarates, amines, alkanolamines, synthetic AHAs/BHAs, Polyacrylamide, metacrylate, elastomer, poloxamer, styrene, vinyl, polyquaternium, nylon, nitriles, nitrates, nitrosamine releasers, bromates, aluminum and alumina.
No artificial colours, fragrances or fillers are used. The colour of the finished product is due to the infused herbs and extracts added, whilst the fragrance is from the essential oils.
All CHIDEM products are suitable for vegetarians and never been tested on animals!
Cigdem acts as a Cosmetic and Skin Image Consultant working with top media companies in Turkey and the Middle East and collaborating with names like NARS, MAC and Laura Mercier on TV shows and catwalks. Some of the customers of her personally tailored skincare are Kim Kardashian and Sarah Jessica Parker.
Anti-Ageing Beauty Crème
I’m using the Anti-Ageing Beauty Crème from the Beauty of Youth collection, which is suitable for ages between 25 and 40. The extracts of oak, millet seed, blackcurrant, sea buckthorn and others create a cocktail of vitamins A, B, C and E, hyaluronic acid and co-enzymes, boosting luminosity. This intensive rejuvenating treatment reduces the depth of wrinkles, stimulates the production of collagen, proteins, fibre and elastin.
Price for 50ml: £48.00
Illuminating Eye Crème
The Illuminating Eye Crème from the same collection is one I’m definitely in love with. The eyebright, cucumber, arnica, acmella and caviar extracts help to reduce dryness, fine lines, wrinkles, puffiness and dark circles around the sensitive eye area. Instantly, this product keeps the look of the entire eye area looking fresher, smoother and revitalized.
Price for 15ml: £58.00
The Anti-Ageing Beauty Crème feels a lot heavier than the normal products I use for my face, but in the same time it doesn’t make it too greasy, neither blocks the skin. I apply it before I go to bed and sometimes in the morning if I’m not going to have makeup on that day. It leaves the skin incredibly nourished and hydrated, which is the most successful way in the fight against wrinkles.
I’m not going to lie on this, the scent is not something I admire. I was talking to a friend of mine recently and we both agreed that really good organic skincare doesn’t always smell very pleasant, because it has real ingredients, rather than the synthetic scents which we are so used to. After all if Kim Kardashian can use it, so can I 🙂
The Illuminating Eye Crème is absolutely delightful. I can easily pick up the scent of cucumber on this one which smells very nice. I love the feeling it leaves me with around the eyes and I can see an improvement on my wrinkles. Although I work on the computer quite intensely, when I use the creme my eyes don’t look as tired as they normally do. The wrinkles which are trying to make an appearance have remained very fine, which makes me really happy!
Note: The products are indeed freshly made. When I ordered mine, they went into production in the following week. I keep them in the fridge just in case (it’s not an requirement), because I think this will preserve them for longer.
