Shoreditch is one of my favourite areas in London for so many reasons: it’s full of creative people with a unique style; vibrant backgrounds for outfit posts; great venues for meeting friends and having fun at any time of the year.
There is one particular place with many different uses – chop’d, right at the top of Boxpark. You can enjoy a chilled beer outside on a late summer afternoon, get a warm cup of organic latte to escape a rainy day, or even grab a super healthy lunch between your business meetings in the area.
chop’d – Real Good Food Fast
From the beginning the company claims that they cook everything from fresh organic ingredients, sourced locally. They pick the best fresh ingredients from the local markets every morning to deliver to their stores.
I’m a big fan of salad bars and their menu is full of many temptations. There is a huge list of cold and hot salads from which you can find something for any taste. Apart from the salads, you can also get a hot stew, soup or wrap, and complete your lunch with a sweet desert.
Create Your Own
If you can’t make your choice or you want to experiment, you can create your own salad. First, you choose a base, then you add 3 healthy veg and 1 deli item, add your favourite garnish, choose a dressing and you’re ready!
I had a Healthy Chicken & Avocado Salad, while Robert had a Jerk Chicken Salad.
My salad had a mix of white and red Mexican beans on top of fresh salad leaves, avocado and sunflower seeds. This vitamin mixture was accompanied by roasted chicken bites and topped with parsley. I added a splash of balsamic vinegar for a light sweetness. I really liked the fresh taste of green leaves combined with melted avocado; the deep texture of beans contrasting the crunchy seeds.
His salad was a contrast between crunchy salad leaves and softly roasted sweet potato. A little kick of chilli comes with the first bite, followed by the jerk chicken. The coriander flavour appears after a few bites as well. The sweet potato is cooked nicely, not too sweet, while the roasted peppers give an extra soft and sweet taste.
The Overall Opinion
I like the concept of fresh and organic fast food. If you are stuck in the office and need something to take away with you or you’re running around town sightseeing, but you’re fed up with heavy on oil fast food chains, you have to try chop’d. The prices are very reasonable, whilst the quality and the taste haven’t been compromised at all.
The portions are good sized. I felt quite full and didn’t finish mine, while Robert did better than me. Actually, he wasn’t too enthusiastic being dragged to a salad bar with me, but was pleasantly surprised. He had to admit that the healthy lunch didn’t just feel like a salad, but like a main course meal.
The best thing is that they have 9 shops around town and you can also get food delivered to your door from their phone app:
My favourite one remains the one in Boxpark, Shoreditch 🙂 It’s the location and the atmosphere for me.
