The easiest way to go in a new city and blend in, is to mix some basics with statement pieces. When we arrived in Gent, Belgium, and I realised it was a grey but warm winter day, I immediately reached out for some of my favourite faux suede pieces with fringes and tassels.
I bought this jacket from Boohoo in the autumn and I loved wearing it in many different ways, but something was missing. I was looking really hard for a pair of boots that would match its style, when I spotted a pair of knee highs in the Online Avenue fringe range. The Alayna Tassel Boots are the perfect shade, the perfect length and have exactly my favourite type of block heel! Bingo!
Playing with three main textures, I layered up the tan faux suede over a stripy black and white knit top and a pair of skinnies in faded denim. Nothing too crazy – the tassels are enough of a showstopper.
Glasses on, glasses off
As for the specs and my odd practice to not wear them all the time – it’s just me. I would have them on whilst on the street, so I can admire the architecture of the city, until I go inside a building to grab chocolate waffles and a coffee. I take them off so it’s not all steamed up in the room. Then I’ll walk on the street again until I realise I’m missing on the details, and start searching the bag for my glasses!!
