The sort of people who headline festivals are usually more into sex, drugs and rock’n’roll than vegetarianism, yoga and mindfulness. Nevertheless, Julie Montagu, headlined her first festival in 2017, aged 45. She may not be as hardcore as other festival names, but in the yoga and wellbeing crowds, she’s a true superstar.
Born into a small town in the USA, she supported herself through university, studying Computer Science. After her first marriage broke down, she married the Viscount Hinchingbrooke – Luke Montagu.
Described by Dorset Magazine as one of the most down-to-earth aristocats ever, Julie has carved out a successful business for herself, without relying on her famous husband’s name. Her blog, the Flexi Foodie is hugely popular for its healthy and delicious recipes, and her yoga classes in London are inevitably sold out.
Her husband was ill and housebound for more than three years, and it was then that Julie first found an interest in yoga, as a way to look after herself. As a stressed out mum and an overworked carer, she found it was a good way to practise self-care.
For extra cash, Julie started teaching a few classes in church halls. Her interest in nutrition grew from that, and in the intervening years she’s become something of an icon for yogis around the country.
She’s now authored four well received books about eating well and yoga, helping to bring her name and her brand to an ever larger audience. So she was the perfect choice to headline Wanderlust 108 – the world’s only mindful triathlon – last summer.
If you’re planning an event with a wellbeing angle, she could be the perfect celebrity guest. Whether it’s a seminar about managing stress at work or a festival of wellbeing, Julie has a huge amount to offer to all sorts of audiences. Book a celebrity like Julie Montagu through MN2s.
