While I Held The Poster

I don’t even know how it happened, but I was there holding the poster. One minute Sonya said “Will someone help me open the 4-meter poster” and I said “Sure”, next minute I was standing in front of the embassy pulling it at one side. Luckily a few more people joined in the middle, otherwise it was getting a bit heavy.

I didn’t mind at all. I don’t mind being part of other Bulgarians which care about their roots, their country and want to a change their home country for better. Those ambitious and adventurous people from all different ages and professions which went abroad for different reasons – some of them to earn living for their families back home, others to study or search for new skill improvements, new opportunities and gain more work experience. We’re all free to choose where to live in, but it doesn’t mean we should forget where we come from, right?

I like meeting these same people every week. I can’t remember many of the names, even though we repeat them every week, but I do remember the smiles, the hopes we all share, the new creative posters appearing each week. We, not being able to protest in front of the parliament in our country, but only to gather once weekly on a Sunday in front of the Bulgarian embassy in London, we still support the protests back home. Our mission is making it noticeable, making it known and show to a wider public.

Only a few people passing by ignored us or tried to walk as fast as they could. Most of the people – tourists of residents read the poster, had a flier to find out about our cause and smiled with us. We received a few thumbs-up and I think this was a good achievement. It might not be much, but it is something.

I’m sorry, I don’t know which one of the photographers made these photos. They are a few guys taking photos and I haven’t known which one uploads them on Facebook.

Here are a few of my shots made with the smart phone, once I was replaced on my corner from the poster…
